Detailed description
Trade name of the medicinal product: Endometramag-K.
International non-proprietary name of active substances: gentamicin, colistin, propranolol.
Form: solution for intrauterine administration. Endometramag-K in 1 ml as active ingredients contains gentamicin sulfate (in terms of the base) – 3 mg, colistin sulfate – 90,000 IU, propranolola hydrochloride – 15 mg, as well as excipients: propylene glycol, methylcellulose, trilon B and purified water. ®
In appearance, the drug is a slightly opalescent liquid of greenish-yellow color. The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 2 years from the date of production, after the opening – 14 days. It is forbidden to use the drug Endometramag-K after the expiration date.
Endometramag-K is produced in 0.5 liters and 1 liter in polyethylene canisters of appropriate capacity.
Store the drug in the manufacturer’s closed packaging in a place protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature of 5 ° C to 25 ° C.
Endometramag-K should be stored out of reach of children.
Endometramag-K refers to combined antimicrobial drugs for veterinary use.
Endometramag-K – has a bactericidal effect against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Protea, Escherichia, Salmonella, Staphylococci, Bordetella, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and others.
Gentamicin sulfate has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial action, is active against most gram-positive and some gram-negative microorganisms, including Proteus spp., Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. and Staphylococcus spp.. The antibiotic does not act on anaerobic bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa.
The mechanism of bactericidal action of gentamicin is due to the binding of the antibiotic to the 30S subunit of ribosomes and a violation of protein synthesis, thereby preventing the formation of a complex of transport and information RNA, while erroneous reading of RNA and the formation of non-functional proteins occur. In high concentrations, it reduces the barrier functions of cytoplasmic membranes and causes the death of microorganisms.
Colistin sulfate, which is part of the drug, is active against many gram-negative microorganisms, including E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Aerobacter aerogenes, Corynebacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Pasteurella spp., Bacteroides spp., Erysipelothrix spp.. Gram-positive aerobes are resistant to colistin.
The mechanism of bactericidal action of colistin is to destroy the structure of phospholipids of the cell membrane, which causes the death of the microorganism.
Propranolol, which is part of the drug, enhances the contractility of the uterine myometrium, which contributes to a faster separation of the aftermath, and with endometritis, the removal of purulent contents from the uterus.
The components of the drug are poorly absorbed through the mucous membrane of the uterus, which prevents their accumulation in livestock products and milk.
Endometramag-K is used to treat endometritis in cows and prevent the development of postpartum obstetric diseases. ®
Contraindication to use is individual hypersensitivity of animals to the components of the drug.
When using Endometramaga-K in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications, as a rule, are not observed. In case of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is stopped and antihistamines and symptomatic therapy are prescribed to the animal.
