Glucadex 2 mg\/mL solution for injection for horses, cattle, goats, pigs, dogs and cats
\ndexamethasone (as sodium phosphate).
\nSTATEMENT OF THE ACTIVE SUBSTANCE AND OTHER INGREDIENTS<\/strong>
\n1 mL contains:
\nActive substance:
\nDexamethasone 2,0 mg
\n(as dexamethasone sodium phosphate 2,63 mg)
\nExcipients:
\nBenzyl alcohol (E1519) 15,6 mg
\nSolution for injection.
\nClear, colourless aqueous solution.<\/p>\n

INDICATIONS<\/strong>
\nHorses, cattle, goats, pigs, dogs and cats:
\nTreatment of inflammation and allergic reactions.
\nHorses: Treatment of arthritis, bursitis or tenosynovitis.
\nCattle: Treatment of primary ketosis (Acetonemia).
\nInduction of parturition.
\nGoats: Treatment of primary ketosis (Acetonemia).<\/p>\n

CONTRAINDICATIONS<\/strong>
\nExcept in emergency situations, do not use in animals suffering from diabetes mellitus,
\nrenal insufficiency, cardiac insufficiency, hyperadrenocorticism or osteoporosis.
\nDo not use in viral infections during the viraemic stage or in cases of systemic mycotic
\ninfections.
\nDo not use in animals suffering from gastrointestinal or corneal ulcers, or demodicosis.
\nDo not administer intra-articularly where there is evidence of fractures, bacterial joint
\ninfections and aseptic bone necrosis.
\nDo not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance, to corticosteroids and to any
\nother ingredient of the product.

DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTES AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION<\/strong>
\nHorses: Intravenous, intramuscular, intraarticular and peri-articular use.
\nDogs and cats: Intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous use.
\nCattle, goats and pigs: Intravenous and intramuscular use
\nFor the treatment of inflammatory or allergic conditions the following average doses are
\nadvised. However the actual dose used should be determined by the severity of the signs
\nand the length of time for which they have been present.<\/p>\n

Species Dosage<\/strong>
\nHorses, cattle, goats, pigs 0,06 mg of dexamethasone\/kg bw
\n(1,5 mL of product\/50 kg bw)
\nDog, cat 0,1 mg of dexamethasone\/ kg bw
\n(0,5 mL of product\/10 kg bw)
\nFor the treatment of primary ketosis in cattle a dose of 0,02-0,04 mg of dexamethasone\/kg
\nbw (cattle: 5-10 mL of product per 500 kg bw; goats: 0,65-1,3 mL of product per 65 kg bw)
\ngiven by single intramuscular injection is advocated dependent on the size of the animal
\nand the duration of the signs. Higher doses (i.e. 0,04 mg\/kg) will be required if the signs
\nhave been present for some time or if relapsed animals are being treated.
\nFor the induction of parturition in cattle – to avoid foetal oversize and mammary oedema.
\nA single intramuscular injection of 0,04 mg of dexamethasone\/kg bw (corresponding to 10
\nmL of product for a cow weighing 500 kg) after day 260 of pregnancy.
\nParturition will normally occur within 48-72 hours.
\nFor the treatment of arthritis, bursitis or tenosynovitis by intra-articular or peri-articular
\ninjection in the horse.
\nDose 1 – 5 mL of product per treatment.
\nThese quantities are not specific and are quoted purely as a guide. Injections into joint
\nspaces or bursae should be preceded by the removal of an equivalent volume of synovial
\nfluid. Strict asepsis is essential.<\/p>\n

WITHDRAWAL PERIODS<\/strong>
\nCattle and goats : Meat and offal : 8 days
\nMilk : 72 hours
\nPigs : Meat and offal : 2 days following intramuscular administration
\nMeat and offal : 6 days following intravenous administration
\nHorses : Meat and offal : 8 days
\nNot authorized for use in horses producing milk for human consumption.<\/p>\n

SPECIAL STORAGE PRECAUTIONS<\/strong>
\nKeep out of the sight and reach of children.
\nKeep the vial in the outer carton in order to protect from light.
\nDo not use this veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the
\ncarton and label after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
\nShelf life after first opening the container: 28 days.<\/p>\n
